How to Support the Library

The new Gloucester Public Library appreciates support from individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations. Here are 7 ways you can support us:

1. Join the Freinds of the New GLoucester Library

The Friends are a non-profit group that supports the library by volunteering time and energy, advocating for the library, and raising funds to support the library and its community. They support special book purchases, summer reading programming and book clubs, caring for the library grounds, offering classes, and participating in town events such as the Community Fair and Tiny Timber tree lighting. They raise funds through book sales, donations, and membership dues. On their website you can join the Friends, make a donation, view upcoming-events, and more.

2. Volunteer at the Library

We welcome volunteers ages 13 and up. Please contact the library for volunteer opportunities: or 207-926-4840.

3. Donate to the Library Gift Fund

We appreciate monetary donations that provide supplementary support for library collection, programs, and services. We are able to accept cash or checks made out to "The New Gloucester Public Library." We can provide a receipt if requested.

4. Donate Books

We accept book donations of new and used books in good condition. Library staff will access donated books to determine their sutability for the library collection. Books that are not added to the collection will be tranfered to the Friends of the New Gloucester Public Libary. The Friends will sell them in a booksale or donate them to another organization. If books are unble to be sold or donated, they maybe otherwise disposed of. The Library and Frineds are unable to provide appraisals of donated items, but, if requested, the Library can provide a receipt listing the actual or approximate number of donated items.
